Two weeks ago I got to attend and volunteer at the first One By One conference, "Into All The World." The day was beyond amazing. Not only was I getting to see what days, weeks, and months of planning had turned into... I was witnessing what years of investing had created! It was such a blessing to be with so many people who share a similar passion and heart.
Working with One By One is always a blast (we seem to attract incredibly fun personalities to the team), but sitting in on the sessions was so inspiring. I love hearing Matt and Becky speak, especially about Kenya. They both truly come alive when talking about the subject. Dave Jones, a pastor here in England, is one of those men who never ceases to inspire and challenge me! He is truly amazing.
The last speaker of the day was Ken Gott. He is someone who I've heard speak many times, but he always says something that pierces my heart. There were many statements he made that I took note of because I loved them so much, but there was one that is still with me two weeks later. "Missions will cost you," he said. "It will cost you a great deal... but what a way to waste your life."
I know there are a lot of people who don't understand what I'm doing. They can't seem to grasp the reason I would leave everything behind. However, I can't help but think what an amazing way it is to waste my life! I see those beautiful kids in Bumala B', those lives that have been unmistakably changed, and I am happy. It is guaranteed that this life won't make me rich. I can count on missing holidays and vacations. There's a possibility that I will give up even more than I already have. I know to some that may seem like a waste... But I say "what a way to waste my life!"
